Is a yellow spice primarily produced in southern India that is widely used in South Asian cuisine and which some believe possesses a variety of health benefits due to its anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Part of the ginger family, tumeric imparts a bitter, peppery flavor and is perhaps most commonly found in curries.
